The Council on Women in Energy & Environmental Leadership (CWEEL) is a division of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
CWEEL provides a network for women in the energy and environmental sectors. Its mission is to support career development for professional women, mentoring, networking, and scholarships for aspiring women to pursue technical education and careers in the energy and environmental fields, and to establish CWEEL as a forum for women to promote policy in industries.
CWEEL Ghana is one of several international chapters and it is under the Association of Energy Professionals Ghana (AEPG) - AEE Ghana chapter.
CWEEL Ghana’s goal is to conscientize women in challenging themselves by taking up leadership roles, and actively participating and contributing to the growth in the Energy & Environmental Sector. It seeks to achieve this by consciously involving itself in the mentoring, sponsoring and upscaling of women and girls in Energy & Environment fields (in academia and industry).
Also, in line with the mandate of CWEEL international, CWEEL-Ghana seeks to bring together women and young girls within the energy and environmental sectors to share knowledge and experience and to support the careers of young upcoming early career beginners in the industry. Complimentarily, CWEEL -Ghana is open to all industries interested in the empowerment of women and the girl child education in Ghana.
CWEEL Ghana has Ing. Marina D. K. Agortimevor as its Ghana Lead Officer and Ms. Sharon Frimpong as the Liaison Officer. The two work together in achieving the goals of CWEEL Ghana and International.
They envision an energy sector that has significant footprints of high-level professional women at decision making positions making transcending decisions that will lead to the growth of the Energy and Environment Sectors and alleviate the energy poverty dilemma thronging in the developing countries.
