Formation of Editorial Committee and CWEEL for Association of Energy Professionals Ghana

After the formation of the Association of Energy Professionals Ghana (AEPG), the board went ahead to set up an Editorial committee on the 24th of February 2021 aimed at serving as an information and communication hub on energy related matters specific to Ghana and the African Continent at large.. Also, the Women’s wing; the Council of Women in Energy and Environmental Leadership CWEEL was formed. The CWEEL is a division of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) that supports the role of women in the energy and environmental industries. It assists in the career development activities for existing professionals, and also enable young women aspiring to leadership roles to find mentors that will support their own development.

As an association that has its main focus on energy, environment and climate change in Africa and with the global push for sustainable development, this could not have come at a better time.

The AEPG focus will be on Energy, Environmental and Climate Change matters specific to Ghana and the African Region

The Members of the Editorial board of AEPG includes Ing Bismarck Otoo, Unridden Abdulai, Jonas Henry, Dominic Obeng, Sharon Flora Frimpong, Marina Agortimevor and Kafui Dei.

Ing. Bismarck Otoo

AEPG | Editor in Chief

Ing. Otoo serves as the Editor in Chief of the committee. He has a vast experience in both industry and academia, he currently serves as an Aeronautical Telecommunication Engineer in the Aviation industry.

His future prospects are in Engineering Quality Assurance, Industrial Research and Development, Engineering Law within the Energy Systems Chain and the Aviation industry.

Nurideen Abdulai

AEPG | Content Creator and Section Editor

Nurideen is responsible for content creation and section editing. He has been serving as the Executive Director for the Africa Center for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (ACEES – an energy Think-Tank based in Ghana). He is an energy management and efficiency consultant with a background in Economics and Oil and Gas at University of Ghana and Glasgow Caledonian University respectively.

Nurideen is currently a PhD Candidate in Sustainable Energy Management in Ghana with research interest in residential energy consumption and forecast.

Jonas Henry

AEPG | Content Creator and Section Editor

Jonas Adafianoo Henry is a committee member also in charge of content creation and section editing.

Jonas is the Co-Founder of Myriad projects & Energy - an international energy company with expertise in the trading & transportation of oil and gas. Jonas co-founded the company in 2013 after understudying some of the pioneers in the Energy industry & executing special tasks in contracts & negotiations for foreign delegates, embassies, and some international brands including Nokia & Managere Afrique, which enabled him to optimize efficient global management skills, interact with the African market & proffer solutions to achieve developmental goals. As manager for business development & new markets, Jonas has been growing the company with regards to serving and engaging multi-national companies to invest and conduct business in Africa, delivering high-level leads for stakeholders in the African energy industry to maximize the potential of their energy assets.

Dominic Obeng

AEPG | Associate Editor

Dominic is a committee member and an associate editor. He is currently the Head of Facilities Management in an international financial institution in Ghana. His career spans a period of 12 years in Engineering and Facilities Management in the telecommunications and banking sectors. He has Electrical/Electronic Engineering background and relevant certification in Problem and Incident Management. He is an Energy and Environment (EE) champion for his company with special focus on Carbon Neutrality and SUP elimination.

Sharon Flora Frimpong

AEPG | Associate Editor; CWEEL Liaison

Sharon is a committee member and also an associate editor. She doubles as the Council for Women in Energy and Environmental Leadership Liaison for the Ghana Chapter (CWEEL Liaison).  Sharon represents a multidisciplinary expertise having practiced as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor and holds a Master of Law in International Energy Law and Policy.

She is currently working on a research that compares the National Energy Strategy of Morocco and the Renewable Energy Master Plan of Ghana and how it impacts private participation. She has an interest to investigate the impact of Energy foreign aid on the Low Carbon pathway of developing countries with a focus on the Electricity projects.

Marina Agortimevor

AEPG | Traffic Manager, CWEEL Lead

Marina is a committee member and leads the traffic management team. She is also the CWEEL Lead for the AEPG Marrina is an Electrical/Electronics Engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the renewable energy sector. She is an MBA graduate. She is currently working with GIZ Ghana on Green People's Energy Project "to promote the use of renewable energy for social institutions in rural Ghana "Our inability to be vertically integrated with our crude products including gas exposes us to power insecurities where we are not able to utilize properly the availability and price of the key feedstock for power generation to ensure consistent power supply & subsidized prices for both commercial & domestic purposes. Therefore the ensuing and current erratic supply of electricity in the country is speculated to be the lack of gas flow due to the above considerations besides the technical challenges within the Power Industry.

Kafui Dey

AEPG | Co-opted Member; Content Influencer

Kafui Dey is a communication consultant and the founder of Kafui Dey Consulting. He specializes in moderating corporate events, coaching public speakers and media training. Kafui has worked with clients to win national elections and prepared speakers for corporate speaking engagements and TED talks.

He is motivated by the opportunity to help his clients make a meaningful impact via their improved communication skills.Outside of work, Kafui  enjoys long early morning walks and listening to smooth jazz.
